The Future Now is a 12-minute short film we wrote and produced for Living Water International. Our goal with this film was to tell the story of the water crisis entirely with visual storytelling. Limiting dialogue to a single line was challenging but well worth it. This approach allows the viewer to get immersed in the story without the barriers of language, subtitles, or local accents.
We shot this film on location in rural Kenya with an entirely Kenyan cast, many of which had never seen a camera before.
Swell Lab handled all creative direction for the Forward Gala including branding, event design, lighting, audio, and video production. This event followed a 25th-anniversary event in which we celebrated the last 25 years of Living Water International. Now it’s time to look forward to the next 25 years. This forward-thinking direction inspired the event name as well as the futurist, modern, low-poly look of the event. All of the low-poly illustrations were done by hand based on photos.

At the Day 11 event all of the screens played this hype loop before and after the event. This was a really dynamic way to share the visuals of the cause and promote the brand of the event.
We created a teaser campaign called #FLOOD to pre-launch the event. The following posters and social graphics were spread all over campus leading up to the launch.
